About TheTrueVault

A seller in Accra has something a buyer in Tamale wants. Neither of them has met the other. The buyer will not send the money to a stranger, and the seller will not put the goods on a bus for one. Cash on delivery solves this when the two are in the same city, and solves nothing at all when they are not. That distance is the whole reason this exists.

So the buyer pays into TheTrueVault first, with no account needed. We hold it. The seller can see the money is really there, and only then ships. The buyer gets the item, checks it, and the money is released. Neither side has to trust the other; both of them trust the hold. The old word for this is escrow.

We built it because the ordinary alternative is worse. Most deals on WhatsApp and Instagram get settled with “send half now, half on delivery”, which is not a protection so much as a way of splitting the loss.

We operate in Ghana. Not “Africa” — Ghana. Mobile money through MTN, Telecel and AirtelTigo, bank transfer, and identity checks against the Ghana Card. Expanding before this market is genuinely well served would be a way of avoiding the hard part.

TheTrueVault is not a bank and does not hold deposits. While a deal runs, the payment stays with the payment provider that collected it, and it goes to the buyer or the seller according to what happens on the deal. We do not lend it, invest it, or earn interest on it.

We are not a courier, a marketplace, or a guarantor of the item itself. We hold the payment and record what happened. Whether the laptop is genuine is something the checking period exists to let you find out.

We are not for every deal either. The smallest we handle is GHS 500 and the largest is GHS 50,000.
