About TheTrueVault
TheTrueVault is an escrow service for online deals in Ghana. A buyer pays into escrow instead of paying the seller directly. The seller ships or hands over the item. The money moves once the agreed conditions are met. If the deal goes wrong before that point, the money is still there to be argued over.
We built it because the ordinary alternative is worse. Most deals on WhatsApp and Instagram get settled with “send half now, half on delivery”, which is not a protection so much as a way of splitting the loss. Ghana has no card chargeback culture to fall back on, and a GHS 5,000 fraud is too small for anyone to chase.
We operate in Ghana. Not “Africa” — Ghana. Mobile Money through MTN, Telecel and AirtelTigo, bank transfer, and identity checks against the Ghana Card. Expanding before this market is genuinely well served would be a way of avoiding the hard part.
What we are not
TheTrueVault is not a bank and does not hold deposits. Money in a trade sits with our licensed payment partners and is directed to the buyer or the seller according to the state of that trade. We do not lend it, invest it, or earn interest on it.
We are not a courier, a marketplace, or a guarantor of the item itself. We hold the payment and record what happened. Whether the laptop is genuine is something the inspection period exists to let you find out.
What is not finished
A buyer-protection insurance pool, a trained mediator network for high-value disputes in Accra, Kumasi and Takoradi, and a published monthly fraud report. All three are designed and none of them ship today. The trust page lists every defence that is actually running, and the ones that are not.
